Yoga sequence for runners, hikers and bikers (video)

This yoga class is especially for runners, hikers and bikers. The poses in this sequence are targetting the upper leg; stretching out the hamstrings, iliopsoas muscle and the quadriceps. These muscles are engaged a lot during running, hiking and biking. If you don’t stretch them, they will shorten with a higher risk on injuries as a consequence.


I used to be a runner for years. Everything from 5 kilometers to a marathon. Stretching wasn’t really my thing. I did a few stretches after running, but never took it very seriously. The results are ‘short’ hamstrings. Or better were short hamstrings. With a lot of patient I’ve lengthen them. I had to. My short hamstrings caused me a lot of backpain. Every month there would be a day that I would get out of the car and couldn’t stand up straight anymore. Stupid enough I never made the link between my backproblems and my running. Up untill I started doing yoga. Now I know what the consequences of not stretching are and I also know how important it is to stretch out after running, hiking and biking.

This sequence is a short one, you can always simple do after your run, bike ride of hike. Take your time. The longer you stretch the happier your mucles will be.
