It’s all over again: the Dutch championship Banana Riding 2015. Guerilla’s extended their title, but they were not the only champion this year. SMS Ban Aan gathered the same amount off points, so both teams had to share the title.
What has this to do with travelling, yoga, massage or food? Nothing and everything. Bananas are food, aren’t they? Doing yoga is good to prepare yourselves for the Championship and next year there might be a yoga workshop (if I’m around), there probably will be a massage stand. But the main reason is: I was part of the group that set this Banana Riding Championship up and after missing last years edition because of travelling this year I was part of the organisation again. This time making a little promo-video for the coming years (just click and watch).
The whole thing started out as just a one year event, but this year was already edition number seven and we don’t have a seven year itch, so we will go on next year. If you are in the Netherlands: come and join us. It’s an open championship, so everyone can join. The only thing you need is a group of eight friends in total (you can have 10 with two substitutes), we have the banana for you, so you don’t have to bring your own.
It’s a day full of fun. You’ll be competing in six different disciplines. Check the movie to see them. Your day will start in the morning, you will get lunch, have the option to barbecue after the race and after that we will party up until late at night. No worries; the event is held at camping Het Groene Eiland, so you can simple crash in your tent and sleep in next morning.
