5 reasons to drink apple cider vinegar with honey

Drink apple cider vinegar with honey: I think this could be one of grandmother’s recipes to cure almost everything. In a world where we are constantly looking for new super foods, this is an old, proven remedy for a lot of problems, like a sore throat, hiccups, high cholesterol, indigestion, low energy and a stuffed nose.

1 – Loose weight

Before every meal have a glass of apple cider vinegar with a little bit of honey. No, you’re not going to loose kilos of weight, but according to a study published in 2009 in the Bio-science, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, people who consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks experienced significant declines in body weight. Part of it was abdominal fat. Apple cider Vinegar is a acetic acid.

2 – Lower cholesterol

In our stressed society, where we often eat the wrong foods, high cholesterol is a big problem. I probably write a blog about this in the near future, because there is good and bad cholesterol. But for now, let’s get back to the above mentioned study. That also showed that the people who participated in it lowered their triglycerides levels. To put it black and white: triglycerides are fat in the blood, used to provide energy. That sounds good, but too high triglyceride levels are linked to heart disease. Drinking apple cider vinegar brings them down.

3 – Keeping your body in balance

You’ve probably heard of pH levels in your body. Again: I’ll explain in a future blog. For now: your body can be either too alkaline or too acidic. Most of us are – due to to many toxins in our food and environment – too acidic. Apple cider vinegar helps the body too maintain a healthy alkaline pH level. If your body is too acidic it results – for starters – in a lack of energy

4 – Detoxifying

I’ll be talking more and more about detoxing on this blog in the next couple of weeks, because I’ve got a nice detox program challenge coming up for you guys. But for now: apple cider vinegar helps you detoxing, because it stimulates your cardiovascular circulation and helps detoxify the liver.

It can also you if you’re struggling with candida. In that case you like to drink it with some ginger, which will help you fight the candida.

5 – Give your immune system a boost

Apple cider vinegar breaks up mucus in your body and cleanses lymph nodes. If you have an allergy – for example hey fever – it can give some relieve, because it reduces mucus and sinus congestion. It’s also know to help with sore throats and headaches. It has also an anti-inflammatory (and antibiotic) effect, calming down your intestines. Your intestines need a lot of energy. If your digestion is out of balance, your body will use so much energy to bring it back in balance again that it has no power to fight any other diseases. So a healthy belly is a healthy body.

It’s best to drink apple cider vinegar with honey on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, about 20 minutes before breakfast. If you like you can drink it throughout the day as well.
